OTAGa ASSOCIATION A meeting of the executive of the Otago Hockey Association was held last g evening, Mr T. H. Mulholland occupied the chair and there were also present Messrs M. Williams E. Bennick E W. Densem, A. C. Barnes, E_ D Brown. W. J. Boyd. V, Mercer and H. F. Payton. VACANCY ON EXECUTIVE_ Reference was made to the failure ot Technical Old Boys’ Club to nominate a delegate in place of Mr F. Austin (resigned), and it was decided to advise the club that unless a nomination were received by next meeting the association would exercise its right to fill the vacancy. POSTPONEMENT OF MATCHES Reporting for the Match Committee Mr Rennick said he considered that Tonga Park had been fit for play on Saturday and Mr Densem said he was of the opinion that the Oval had been in good enough order. The Reserves Department had asked that all games should be postponed, and this, had been chairman said he had seen the grounds on Saturday morning and thought that senior matches should have been played. Both the Tonga and Oval caretakers had prepared tor matches, indicating that they considered the grounds all right. They were now short of time to complete the competition. NORTH OTAGO ASSOCIATION Members criticised the North Otago Sub-association’s attitude, and the opinion was expressed that both ihe North Otago and Otago Associations would be happier if the present relationship were severed. , It was decided to write to the New Zealand Association advising it of the situation and of Otagr’s disinclination to continue the present arrangement. The secretary was also instructeu to write to North Otago protesting against its attitude to the parent body. NORTH OTAGO PLAYERS The North Otago Sub-association wrote complaining that no North Otago players had been included in the Otago team to play the Indians.. The sub-

association considered that its players were sufficiently well-known to the selector and was of the opinion that North Otago was not receiving reasonable consideration from Otago. » The selector (Mr Brown) said he was not prepared to put any player in a representative team without seeing him in action beforehand. Mr Boyd said the protest did not call for any reply. It was decided to reply upholding the action of the selector. ( SOUTH CANTERBURY MATCH The South Canterbury Association wrote accepting September 3 for a match with Otago at Dunedin. —Received. MATCH WITH NORTH OTAGO It was decided to write to North Otago suggesting that an Otago B team should play the North Otago representative team at Oamaru on August 20. N.Z. CHALLENGE SHIELD Mr Densem said the only way to put hockey “on the map ” here was to, send a team on tour, and it was decided he recommend to next year s committee that early consideration should be given to the matter of entering a challenge for the New Zealand Shield. EASTERN-NORTHERN MATCH It was decided to write to the East-ern-Northern Sub-association suggesting that Otago senior and junior teams should play at Gore on September 3. WOMEN’S PROTEST The Otago Womenls Hockey Association wrote stating that men had been practising on its No. 3 ground at the Oval last Saturday, and a girl player had been hit by a ball. It was decided to prevent any further practice on this part of the ground. UNIFORMS NOT UNIFORM As a result of a letter received from the Otago Hockey Umpires’ Association protesting against teams appearing m varying colours, it was decided to bring the matter officially before all clubs. It was decided at the same time to bring up the subject of late starting of matches
