BRIGHTON DOMAIN BOARD

MONTHLY MEETING There was a full attendance of members of the Brighton Domain Board at the monthly meeting, held on Tuesday evening. Mr W. J. Bell presided. Messrs Thornley and Griffiths reported having met Mr Langstone (Minister of Lands) on the Domain last month with reference to camping sites, but the Minister was of the opinion that was too small for that

purpose. He suggested two other sites that might be suitable. Mir Langstono was shown various work carried on by men under No. 13 scheme, and was pleased with what had been done. The Minister’s attention was drawn to the urgent need of getting the fence on the Domain repaired, and he arranged a subsidy for this purpose.

A letter was received from the Secretary of the Dunedin Scottish Societies with reference to the proposed national sports carnival during the holiday period.

A telegraph pole has been removed to allow for improvement to the Domain entrance. The new drive is in course of construction. There are nine men employed on the Domain, and members expressed their appreciation of the improvements under the guidance of Mr Griffiths.
