[Peom Ous Oamakc Coeeespondent.] MAGISTRATE’S COURT. At the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday, before Mr H. W. Bundle, S. Keneth Gifford Stewart was fined 6s and costs (10s) for driving without a license, and 10s and costs (10s) for operating a car without a warrant of fitness. British Pavements Ltd. was fined £3 Ss 8d and costs (10s) for exceeding the road classification of a heavy truck, and was. convicted and discharged on a charge of exceeding a licensed load. George Ivan Frith, for procuring liquor while prohibited, was convicted and ordered to come up for sentence if called upon within 12 months. Frank Newton was fined £5 and costs (£1 10s) on a charge of illegally taking trout from the Awakinq River, and was convicted and discharged for using obscene language. Thomas J. B. Taylor, who was also charged with illegally taking trout, raised the defence of mistaken identity, and was given the benefit of the doubt, the charge being dismissed. CHILDREN’S WELFARE. There was a good attendance at the annual meeting of the North Otago Children’s Welfare Association, Mr J. T. Calder presiding. It was decided to apply for incorporation of the association, and the rules, submitted by Mr J. H. Main, were adopted. Tne following officers were elected; — Patron, Mr W. Kinder; president, Mr J. T. Calder; vice-president, Mr G. T. Gillies; secretary, Mr H. P. S. Familton; treasurer, Mr J. Branthwaite ; auditor, Mr J. G. M'Donald; honorary solicitor, Mr J. HJ Main; committee— Mesdames H. P. S. Familton, A. A. Barsdell, and W. B. Spence, Miss C, Lindsay, Messrs J. Meikle, A. F. Stock, E. D. Watts, and E. Ahern. PERSONAL. Members of the Waitaki Hospital Board yesterday joined in congratulating Mr and Mrs Archibald M'lnnes on having recently celebrated their golden wedding. Mr M'lnnes is a member of the board.
