OTAGO HUNT

BEET AT “ SEA VIEW " The weekly run of the Otago Hunt Club took place on Saturday at “Sea View,” Corstorphine, over the properties of Messrs G. Masters, E. I. Jones, and R. Sim. Favoured by ideal overhead conditions, there was an exceptionally large turn-out of followers and supporters, who met at the Town Hall and proceeded to Mr Masters’s residence, where the throw off took place shortly alter 3 o’clock. The hounds worked well over the first half of the run. but over the latter part they found the trail difficult to follow. The state of the ground was anything but good, and this, no doubt, accounted for the indifferent jumping of the majority of the horses. The best jumper on the day, over the fences which could be seen by the spectators, was Mr W. Muirhead’s Donegal, who has been jumping exceptionally well this season. Others prominent throughout were;— Red Fire (Mr R. James). Mystery (Miss M. Kerr), Black Tractor (Miss E. Grant). Robert B. (Mr J. E. Brunton), Kim (Mrs Gorton), Rainbow (Mr T. Dickson), Peter McGill (Mr B. White), Octane (Mr J. Muirhead). and Wendy :Mr K. Russell).

A visitor from the Pakuranga Hunt Club. Mr W. E. P. Moore, was welcomed by the master, and gave a good account of himself on Dolly Varden. Afternoon tea was d'spensed at the residence of Mr R. Sim, and before departing on the homeward trail the master. Mr J. E. Brunton. took the opportunity of thanking the property owners, and especially Mr and Mrs R. Sim. Mr Sim suitably replied.
