WRESTLING
FRALEY V. BLOMFIELD Accomplishing that which the world’s champion, Nagurski, failed to do, Pat Fraley defeated ” Lofty ” Blomfield. This was Fraley’s second defeat of Blomfield, and as a consequence he has gained for himself the leading position amongst this season’s wrestlers. Wherever he has appeared Fraley, has been responsible for some sensational contests, and on Monday night when ho meets Pat Meehan patrons can be assured of a match full of action from the first gong. Fraley’s previous success over Meehan was not satisfactory, as on that occasion he Tised a hold the legality of which has been doubted in Now Zealand,- and Meehan, who was
totally unprepared for such tactics, was taken unawares. Meehan has lost only one match in New Zealand, that to Fraley, so that ho is out to redeem his reputation. Meehan has previously demonstrated to Dunedin audiences that ho is capable of dealing with the best in the game, and his match against Blomfield here will be remembered for a long time. Fraley specialises in the flying toe hold, drop kicks, and flying tackles, and is said to bo possessed of a very effective elbow jolt. Meehan, who specialises in no particular hold, is one of the dangerous type of wrestlers. His opponents never know with what holds Meehan is likely to secure a fall, and consequently must keep on the alert for an attack from all directions. The return meeting between these two should prove one of the highlights of the season. Further particulars are advertised.
