£8 A TUBE
AN ARTIST’S PAINTS Gem-stones and rare minerals, ground to powder and mixed with chemicals, are used to make the most costly paints in the world, states the ‘ Sydney Morning Herald.’ A Japanese artist, Take Sato, has his paints specially made of these unusual materials, believing that by doing this his colours will never fade. The effects Take Sato achieves are remarkable. The colours in his pictures shine and sparkle like tho brilliant jewels from which they are made. A* the cost of his paints is about £S per tube, Take Sato’s pictures are not sold at low prices. Another artist, whose pictures just now are very popular, uses numberless pieces of paper, of which really beautiful effects are obtained. Readers should keep these facts in mind when hoping to get a fine piece from an artist' or dealer, and remember that all that glitters is sometimes gold—or, at least, something equally valuable. ' -
