WEATHER FORECAST
tJOSTLY FAIR TO FINE The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Halfmoou Bay : Barometers have risen considerably over New Zealand and right across the South Tasman Sea. Pressure gradients are slight, and there is no sign of any active disturbance in. the region. Forecast: Light to moderate and variable wind, with north-easterly predominating. Weather for most part fair to fine, but with occasional scattered showers or drizzling rain probable. Mild day but cold night temperatures. Seas slight to moderate. ’ SUNNY AND MILD. Though there was still a cold snap in the atmosphere after the slight frost of last evening sunshine.this morning soon made conditions pleasant. Only a. slight north-north-easterly breeze was blowing at midday, when barometric pressure was steady at 30in. The maximum thermometer registration at the Gardens at this time was 53deg, and the minimum 45deg. Yesterday the readings were 53.7 deg and 38.4 deg over a period of 24 hours. Indications at noon were that the afternoon would be sunny and mild.
