COURT ST. ANDREWS

Court St. Andrew’s held its meeting on Monday last, when C.R. Bro. G. M‘Kay presided over a full attendance of officers and a good attendance of members. Since the last meeting one of the members, Bro. J. V. Robert, passed away after a short illness in South Africa, and the sympathy of the court was extended to his family, members honouring his memory by standing in silence for a few moments. An invitation was received from Court Enterprise for June 21, and this was left over till next meeting. Apologies were received from Courts Woodland’s 'Pride and Bruce for the table tennis tournament. Two new members were initiated into the order bv C.R. Bro. G. M’Kay, assisted by I.P.C.R Bro. C. Garland. A visit of four players from eight courts was received, and they were given the usual toast, C.S. Bro. W. M. Hogg (Court Enterprise) responding on behajf of the visitors. An enjoyable evening, the first of its kind to be given by the court, w r as spent in a table tennis tournament. Teams of four players from each court took part, and the results were as follows : First round: Court Pride of Green Island defeated Court King Edward’s Pride, Court Little John defeated Court Excelsior, Court Pride of Dunedin defeated Court St. Andrew’s B, Court Robin Hood defeated Court Pride of the Leith, Court Enterprise defeated ’Court St. Andrew’s A. Second round: Court Robin Hood defeated Court Little John, Court Enterprise defeated Court Pride of Green Island, Court Pride of Dunedin a bye. Semi-final: Court Robin Hood defeated Court Pride of Dunedin, Court Enterprise a live. Final: Court Enterprise defeated Court Robin Hood. During the evening an exhibition game was -played by Bros. Laidlaw and Smythe, and was thoroughly enjoyed by the large number of members present.
