. [From Ocr Coebespordent-T. Ahpnt 40 residents of WaitahunA Gully met in the Athenseum Hall to bid farewell to Mr W.- Eaton _and family, who are leaving the, district.-Mr A. Wightman, who was in,the chair, expressed regret at the departure of their guests, and wished them every, success in their new sphere, Mr J. Hose, on behalf of the residents, asked Mr and Mrs Eaton to accept a travelling rug,, and also presented small gifts to their family. Mr Eaton suitably replied. The remainder of the evening was spent in games and competitions. - A dance was held, music being supplied by Mr Tippett and Mr D. Eaton. Mining.—The Sailor’s Gully claim, \Vaitahuna; owing to shortage of. water, has been closed down for four months. It recommenced work on Friday.
