AHHUAL MEETING There was a large attendance of members at the, annual meeting of the Taieri Agricultural Society. Mr John Murray presided. , . Sympathetic .reference was made to tha death of Mr Francis Doherty—a prominent member of the farming-com-munity and supporter of the society. The y annual report, which was adopted, stated: “The annual show was" held on the Show Grounds Outram. The weather was good and fchece was a record attendance or tlie public, and the judging of the various sections passed off expeditiously. The grand parade of prize stock and tne lumping competitions were again attractive features of the show, Exhibitor! have again shown their appreciation of the improvements to the bhow Grounds by bringing forward their exhibits in increased numbers, the entries in all sections being very good. The qualitv, too, was up to the usual high standard. The ladies also were well to the fore in their display of dairy produce and cookery exhibited, the whole display being a credit to the' district. Total dntnes for all sections 765. Remarks by the judges proved that the display of prize stock was one of the best that ever came before them. The annual social, which has become a popular function, was held: in the Agricultural Hall, Outram. The- balance sheet shows a healthy financial position.” The following office-bearers were elected:—President, Mr John Campbell : vice-president, Mr David A. Wallace; additions to the committee- — Messrs P. G. Ford, J. L. Findlay, A. Mann, S. : Young, P. Dow, M. Reid, D. A. Wallace, J. A. Wither, R. T. Kirk, B. Lake, A. Wilson, J. Young, jun., A. Free, R. Cameron, J. L. Grainger, Arthur Reid; auditor, Mr A. H. Cooke: hon. veterinary surgeons, Messrs C. V. Dayus and H. Boyle. Messrs Robert Thomson, William K. Kirk, George Ford, A. S. Gillespie, P.. Dow., and A. Mann were elected life members. COMMITTEE MEETING. Mr John Campbell presided over a committee meeting which followed the annual meeting. Mr A. W. Amos wrote congratulating Mr Campbell on his election as president and offering one guinea as a; special prize for next show.— Accepted with thanks. The annual ball was fixed for July 15, and a sub-committee was appointed to arrange_ details. The president was empowered to revise the section committees for the selection of judges. The annual snow was fixed for November 19. The sum of £l ls was voted to each of the two classes for pasture competitions.
