FAIR ID FIRE—BAIH LATER The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office, Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers,; Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, River* ton. Orepuki, Halfmoon Bay:— An intense anti-cyclone still covers the Tasman Sea and New Zealand, the centre being just west of the North Island, but pressure is falling gradually over Eastern Australia. Forecast i Moderate to fresh northerly to westerly’ winds prevailing. Weather fair to fine, but clouds increasing, and later scattered rain developing in western, and coastal areas, more especially, in. the south. Temperatures milder. Seas rather rough to rough in Foveaus Straight; elsewhere slight to moderate* WARM AND SUNNY. A mild evening gave place to most) pleasant conditions in Dunedin this morning. Bright sunshine and warm temperatures prevailed, while there was only a slight south-easterly breeze, making the morning the finest for soma time, and giving indication of a good week-end. The maximum thermometer registration at the Gardens at noon was 66deg, while the minimum eras 57.2 deg. Barometric pressure was rising in the city at 30.15 in at this time. Yesterday, over a period of. 24 hours, 59dcg and 53.6 deg were the temperature readings.
