FORBURY PARK TO-MORROW Another excellent card has been issued for to-morrow’s meeting at Forbury Park, and os the track promises to be in the same good condition as yesterday, punters have an excellent guide to form to help them in making their selections. The first race is timed to start at 11.43, and as the interval between races is only 35 minutes and the totalisators at Forbury Park always close sharp on time, punters will run the risk of being shut out if they wait too long in the big crowd that will be there to-mor-row. . . An excellent tram and bus service right to the course gates has been arranged. The following are the acceptances, and anticipations;— 11.45 TAHUNA HANDICAP, £l5O. Class 3.44. IJnhoppled trotters. One mile and a-half. Jock M'Grath. scr Bon' Chance 36 Kilraorick ... scr Gaynor ... 36 Native Kowhai scr Shadeland ... 36 Swift Guy ... scr Blue Logan 48 Traveltono ... scr Jenny’s Guy 48 Kilbirnio Dan 12 Axiom ■... ... 60 Chudleigli ... 24 Parrish Chimes 96 Premier ... 24 Shadeland won yesterday by two lengths, with something in reserve from Bon Chance in 3min 26 3-ssec, and now meets the latter on 24yds_ worse terms. Gaynor was close up third, and will meet yesterday’s winner on 36yds better terms. This trio outclassed the remainder of the field, and should again finish in the places. 12.20

SOUTHLAND HANDICAP, £l5O. Class 3.38. One mile and a-balf. Cyrano ... scr Gold Valley 24 Mohican. ... scr Jackaranda 24 Oasis scr Rollalong ... 24 Seascape ... scr Ghandi ... 36' Token scr Donor ... ... 48 All Kings ... 12 Yesterday’s winner, Donor, lias been penalised 48yds for his win, and Cyrano, who finished second in 3min 21 l-ssec, has not been penalised. Jackaranda got a bad passage over the final stages: in yesterday’s race. Cyrano, a good beginner, will have every advantage, being off the front mark. A newcomer in Token was just beaten in 2min 50 3-ssec (equal to about 3min 25sec at Oamaru last March), hut Cyrano, Jackaranda, and Donor should account for Token and the others. 12.55 PACIFIC HANDICAP, £175. Class 2.18. One mile. Civic ... ... scr Marlene ... scr Coherto ... scr Monty Chimes scr Credit Funds scr Nell Grattan scr Eastern Snowy de Oro scr Prince ... scr Three Bells scr Embark ... scr Whitstone scr Harold Wrack scr Doubt ... ... 12 Ivy Peterson scr Voloma ... 12 Lord Wrack scr Vologda ... 30

June 25.—Ashburton County R.O. June 25.—Dannevirke Hunt Club. July 2.—Oamaru J.O. July 5. 7, 9.—Wellington R.C. . July 9.—Westland R.C. (at Riccarton). July 16.—Hawke’s Bay Hunt Club. July 16.—Wairaate District Hunt Club. July 28, 30.—Poverty Bay Turf Club. July 23.—South Canterbury Hunt Club. July 23.—Matamata R.C. July 28, 30.—Poverty Bay Turf Club. This is the biggest field of the afternoon, and again the back-markers will find it difficult to get through the 14 that will start off the front two lines. Yesterday’s winner, Great Divide, is missing from the field, and Embark, who was only beaten a 'head in 2min 8 4-ssec, has not been penalised. He and Marlene appear to have the hest chances, but there is sure to be good support again for Three Bells and Voloma. 1.35 JAMES MEMORIAL HANDICAP, £4OO. Class 4.30. Two miles. Carver Doone scr Renown’s Best 24 Southern Rocks Ahead 36 Smile ... scr Morello 36 Cantata 12 Cloudy Range 60 Ginger Jack 24 Morello has gone back 36yds for his win in the Ritchie Memorial Handicap, and will meet Carver Doone, who was a length and a-half away second, on 36yds worse terms. Ginger Jack was made to cover a lot of extra ground in yesterdya’s race, and more judiciously handled would have troubled the winner. Cantata won easily in the concluding day of the championship meeting in 4min 24sec, and will probably start favourite, with Ginger Jack and Carver Doono next in demand. 2.10RAILWAY HANDICAP, £175. Class 3.16. One mile and three furlongs. Adverse ... scr Royal Debenture scr Grattan scr Directly ... scr War Betty scr Donor ~, scr Bill B ... 12 Eddie Tolan scr College Boy 12 Glen Guy ... scr Norhan Lady 12 Guy win ... scr Gold Salute 24 Jesse Owens scr Bayard ... 36 Tritonia ... scr Guywin and War Betty will be bracketed. Bayard beat Bill B yesterday in 3min 2 3-ssec, and will meet him on 24yds worse trems. The latter, who was having his first race for over seven months, should he benefited by the outing. Eddie Tolan was only beaten half a length for second place, and should be again in the money. Glen Guy was finishing strongly when he broke in the straight in, yesterday’s race. The favourites are likely to bo Bill B, Eddie Tolan, and Bayard.

2.45 PENINSULA HANDICAP, £175. Class 3.66. Unhoppled trotters. One mile and five furlongs. Axiom ... scr Golden Bosun ... scr Bingen ... 12 Grade Fields scr Parrish Orphan Chimes ... 12 Bingen ... scr Sagamore ... 12 Shadeiand ... scr Sonoma King 12 Native Huon 36 Native Haon won well yesterday, a private watch-holder making his time 3min 41 2-ssec, He has been penalised 36yds, and will meet Sonoma King on 24yds worse terms for beating him half a length. Sagamore showed a lot of pace yesterday, and after his first mistake, which cost him fully 60yds, was right up with the field when he broke again. Punters will probably take the chances about him going right in this race and again send_ him. out favourite. Shadeiand, off the limit, went equal to inside 3min 44sec, and will be fancied if reserved for this race. Sagamore, Native Huon, and Shadeiand are likely to be the best fancied. 3.20--ROYAL HANDICAP, £2OO, Class 4.46. Two miles. College (Boy scr Philario ... 12 Diversion ... scr Coherto _ ... 24 Pine Art ... scr Molly Direct 24 Gold Salute ... scr Roan Duke ... 24 Loyal Sun ... scr Embark ... 36 Aqua Bond ... 13 Golden Ivy Peterson 12 Monoss ... 60 Golden _ Moness won well from Philario in 4min 27 2-ssec yesterday, and now meets the latter on 36yds worse terms. Fine Art, who was made a short - priced favourite in yesterday’s race, broke badly at the start and really took no part in the race. Should he begin well to-morrow he should beat the others, and will no doubt again be selected by the public. Philario, Nell Grattan, and Golden Moness are his most dangerous opponents. 3.55 FAREWELL HANDICAP, £260. Class 2.46. One mile and a-quarter. Iraq scr Agile 12 Navy Blue ... scr Frisco Lady 12 Recess scr Morello ... 24 Southern Worthy King 24 Smile ... scr Renown’s Best 36 Worthy King, after beginning badly and being last into the straight, won well yesterday in 2min 434-ssoc from Iraq, and will now meet him on 24yds worse terms. This should enable Iraq to turn the tables on him, and if Morello is started again he and Frisco Lady, who also began badly yesterday, should be the most troubesome to Iraq at the finish.

JOTTINGS Betting at Invercargill. The totalisator will be worked at Invercargill to-morrow on the win and place system. Correction in Handicap. Bayard’s handicap in the Beaconsfield Handicap to bo run at Washdyke next Thursday is 60yds, nob 24 as telegraphed. Failed To Jump Out. There was a lot of good money for Three Bells in the Beach Handicap yesterday, but starting frpm next the rails he missed the jump out, and when the leaders reached the first turn lie was in a bad position, from which he failed to get out.

Won Well; Golden Mouess has done a lot of racing this season, and yesterday’s race was his nineteenth start for two wins, three seconds, and three thirds. He won the Renown Handicap very nicely, and fudging by the strong finishing run he put in it would have taken a good horse to beat him. Southland Strongly Represented. No fewer than eight of the 14 starters in the Victory Handicap yesterday are owned in Southland, and six of them trained at Gore. Of these, Eddie Tolan put up the best performance, finishing a good third, and he would have done better still had he nob hung out so badly. A Bad Breaker. After breaking badly at Oamaru last Saturday, it was surprising to find Kilmorick established favourite for the Bayfield Handicap yesterday, and he gave his backers a poor run for their money, as ho broke badly early in the race, and was never going like a winner. A Bad Finish. Three of the heaviest-backed horses at Forbury Park—Sagamore, Fine Art, and Iraq—in the last three races let their backers down. Both Sagamore and Fine Art gave their backers a poor run for their money, but Iraq by running second returned most of the original investment. Should Be Better For Race. Bill B. was asked for a good effort in the Victory Handicap yesterday. He has not raced since early in October,: and attempted to win all the way, only failing over the last furlong to hold off the more seasoned Bayard. The race should- do Bill B. a lot of good, and he went 13 l-ssec inside his assessment, • Returned Best Price of Day.

Shadeland was having his sixteenth race this season when he won the opening event at Forbury, and his score now stands at two wins, three seconds, and three thirds. Hu gave a good exhibition of clean trotting, and appeared to have something in hand at the finish. Assessed at. 3mm 34sec, he bettered this by 17 2-ssec, and should score again.

Improving With Every Race. Carver Doone acted as pacemaker over the first few furlongs in the Ritchie Memorial Handicap yesterday, but was then steadied, and with a lap to go was lying second last. This Druses gelding put in a fine run over the last furlong and a-half, and in finishing second in 4min 23sec recorded his best performance to date. Can Also Handle a Dirt Track. Though ho has done practically all his racing on grass tracks, Embark made a poor showing at Oamaru, yesterday on a dirt track put up his best performance to date by running a mile in 2min 8 4-sseo and being only beaten a head. Now he has struck form again Embark should win a sprint race before tho season closes. Never in Doubt. Donor, who was backed down to a shade of odds-on in the Domain Handicap, never gave his backers much anxiety. He was not hurried off his mark, but at the end of a couple of furlongs took charge, and was not afterwards Leaded. Only a five-year-old, this Jack Potts gelding has now started six 'times this season for a win, a second, atid a third. Attendance at Forbury Park. Last year the first day of the Forbury Park Trotting Club’s Winter Meeting was held on Coronation Day, and therefore any comparison of the attendance and totalisator turnover yesterday and last year cannot be made. The gate receipts yesterday were about £SO better than on the first day of the 1936 meeting. A Good Performance. Bayard, winner of the Victory Handicap yesterday, was having his fourteenth start j this season, and has been a very consistent performer. He has won three races and been second in five, and in yesterday’s race was travelling at about a 2min 13seo gait. When the leaders turned for home Bayard was on the outside of four others, all racing almost abreast, and was made to cover a lot of extra ground.

Best-driven Horse Wins. At Oamaru last Saturday Morello was not able to handle the heavy going and was one of the last to finish in the President’s Handicap. In the Ritchie Memorial Handicap yesterday Morello was never further back than third, and never left the rails until after the home stretch was entered. He was easily the best-driven horse in the race, and went 7 2-ssec inside his assessment to win. Morello has been a consistent performer this season, and yesterday’s success marked his fourth win. Covered Too Much Ground. Ginger Jack looked like a good thing beaten in the principal race at Forbury Park yeterday, as he was always covering more ground than appeared to be necessary, and in a solidly-run race this makes a big difference. The first two furlongs were run in 36 l-ssec, four in Imin 9 l-ssec, mil© in 2min losec, mile and a-half in 3min 20sec, and the last half-mile in 61 3-ssec. Ginger Jack appeared to hold a good winning chance at the home turn, but faded out badly over the last furlong. Broke Badly. After his good showing at New Brighton and Oamnru, Sagamore gave a very poor display yesterday in the St. Olair Handicap. He began well, but put in a bad break after going about half a mile. Settling down again after losing a lot of ground, he was close up to the field when he went to another bad tangle at the end of a mile and a-quar-ter, and was then cased up. He is unquestionably a fine trotter, but when ho goes to a break is a very difficult horse to get back to his gait. An Outstanding Performance. After his good win over a similar distance on the third day of the championship meeting it was surprising that Worthy King was not better supported in the Flying Handicap yesterday, only (Recess, who looked'very rough, carrying fewer investments. Worthy King was a little slow to begin, and actually last into the straight, but put in a splendid run over the last furlong to snatch victory from Iraq, who halfway down the straight looked a sure winner. Yesterday’s success was Worthy King’s third win this season. Won Well.

After his good second to Wynan at Oamaru, there was solid support forthcoming for Great Divide in the Beach Handicap, and there was a lot of merit in his win, as starting froin the second line at the barrier he failed to get a good position in the running in the early days, and was forced to make a good run outside two across the top the last time. He responded very gamely to his driver’s final cod' P, only had a head to spnro at the finish, the mile being run in the smart time or 2min 8 2-ssec, only four-fifths of a second outside the track record, and

9 3-sseo faster than he was assessed to go. This was Great Divide’s tenth start this season, and his record is four wins, two seconds, and two thirds. At Invercargill To-morrow. The Winter Meeting of the Southland Racing Club will be held to-morrow, and the following horses _ should be fancied in their respective engagements : 11.35—Southland Hurdles, mile and a-half.—Poniard, M'Heath, Last Post. 12.15 Invercargill Trot, mile and a-half.—Flash Guy, Ebb Tide, Hoyle. 12.55.—Myross Hack Handicap, seven furlongs. Bad News, Ardmayle, Vanity Queen. I.3o—Awarua Handicap, mile and a-quarter. —Wild Career, Amehta, Cox°°2Js—Ritchie Memorial Steeplechase, about two and a-half miles.—Burwood, Possom; Gay Boa. , , ' 2.ss —Otatara Trot, mile and a-half. —Vinola, Happy King, Crown Peak. 3.3s__ ©luff Hack Handicap, one mile. —Silkwood, Soliad, Johnny. 4.15 President’s Handicap, seven furlongs.—Roseman, Moneyless, Peony Rose.
