BURGLARY CHARGES
CONVICTIONS ON FOUR COUNTS FARRIS REMANDED FOR SENTENCE 1 A verdict of guilty on four counts out of five was returned by the jury in the Supreme Court yesterday in the case in which Edward Farris, appeared on charges involving breaking and entering and theft. The charges against Farris, who was remanded for sentence until Friday morning, were:—(l) Breaking and entering the premises of the Self Help Company at South Dunedin with intent to commit a crime; (2) with attempting to break into a store at Mornington owned by Cyril Harris Jamieson; (3) with attempting to break and enter the shop of Herbert Houghland Croft, in Carroll street; (4) with breaking and entering the shop of Cyril Richardson Joll at Mosgiel and theft; and (5) with receiving tobacco, cigarettes, and . cigarette papers taken from Joll’s shop, knowing them to have been dishonestly obtained;’ The accused, who was represented by Mr O. G. Stevens, was convicted «n the first four charges. The jury retired at 1 o’clock, but relumed at 3 o’clock for the purpose of tearing portion of the evidence of the vitness Webb read over again. The jury finally returned at 4.35.
