T f GRIPPING JUNGLE ADVENTURES ‘ The New Adventures of Tarzan,’ which will be shown at the St. James to-morrow, blazes new trails in bringing to the screen further exploits of this world-famous fiction character created by Edgar (Rice (Burroughs. Unlike its predecessors, this new Tarzan takes the audience on an adventure into the wilds of Guatemala, where the story is laid. Here, against a mysterious and fascinating background of scenic grandeur, colourful fiestas, native music, and strange rites, the new Tarzan, Herman Brix, battles to the death with a ferocious lion, subdues a wild bull, rescues the heroine from hordes of savage Indians, and performs other Herculean feats of amazing strength and courage. The story starts with Tarzan boarding the s.s. Wingai to help a friend, where he accidentally meets Major Martling, an archaeologist leading an expedition to the Guatemalan jungles in the hope of locating a priceless ,Mayan relic containing a fortune, in •gems. Tarzan joins vhe expedition, and immediately the party is beset with perils that keep the action and suspense at a high pitch. Tarzan, who, as usual, is accompanied by “ Nkima,” the famous chimpanzee, is once again seen in amazing fights with jungle beasts and fierce savages, the latter capturing him and dragging him off to their queen’s court —a cave made terrifying by the presence of a stagnant pool filled with crocodiles. Many weird and breathtaking adventures with natives and crooked adventurers take place in this cave before Tarzan and his friends escape. But more thrilling spectacles follow before the villain and his associates are finally brought to book. This picture, unlike former 1 Tarzan ’ films, was made on the actual locations of the story, and a large steamer was chartered to convey the entire company and its tons of equipment to Guatemala.
