It is the antics of four stare that make Universal’s ‘ Merry-Go-Round ofl 1938 ’ the hilarious feature that it is. They are Mischa Auer, Bert Lahr,. Jimmy Savo, and Billy House, _ In clowning, paptomime, and straight comedy alike they are said to bo superb. One of the comedy scenes la Auer’s Swami act, in which he employs his ability at levitation to raise his friend Lahr high in the air and drop him heavily to the floor. In this way Bert wins a wrestling match, dropping on his opponent from ai height of v about 20ft to take the deciding fair with a body press. _ Alued to the above; players in the featured roles are Alice Brady and Louise Fazendla. John King, Universal’s handsome young leading map, and Joy Hodges, a newcomer with a pleasing singing voice, supply the romantic interest for the film. Dave Apollon’s orchestra, long noted as the best musical act on the American stagey is in a featured position in the pio And Harold Adamson and Jimmie M'Hugh, famous Broadway and Hollywood song-writing team, composed the music. A feature novelty of the offering will be little fonr-year-oldl Beverly Ann Welch, youngest drummer girl m the world. , . , ... . ‘Merry-Go-Round of 1938 ’ will be screened at the Regent next Friday.
