HOSPITAL COMMISSION
CARE OF CRIPPLED CHILDREN (Per United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, May 10. The views of the Wellington branch of the New Zealand Crippled Children’s Society was placed before the Royal Commission inquiring into the matter of accommodation and arrangements for the care and treatment of patients by the Wellington Hospital. Mrs Knox Gilmer (president of the branch) and Mr J. Meltzer (secretary) presented a statement. It was urged that there should be available a complete and modern orthopaedic hospital, including modern facilities for physiotherapy and occupational therapy, an efficient and well-organised hospital school, and a vocational training workshop. including a splint shop. Associated with any orthopaedic hospital should be a number of orthopaedic clinics, and for the economical and efficient work of such hospital and clinics they must be within easy reach of the patient’s home.
