GENERAL ELECTION
CENTRAL OTAGO SEAT LABOUR CANDIDATE SELECTED In the interests of the Labour Party Mr James M. Mackay.. general merchant of Omakau and Ophir, has been chosen to contest the Central Otago seat at the forthcoming Parliamentary election. Mr Mackay is a well-known personality in the Central. Before setting up at Omakau two or three years ago he had a business in Pembroke. For a number, of years he was an officer in the Post and Telegraph Department at Napier, and while in the service of the department was an active member of the Post and Telegraph Employees’ Association.' He was_ Dominion vice-pre-sident of the association at the time of his retirement from the department.
