AUSTRALIAN COUNCIL INVITES NEW ZEALAND ' [Pee United Press Association.] . WELLINGTON, April 20. The Prime Minister to-day cabled to the Prime Minister of the Commonwealth of Australia, Mr Lyons, accepting _ the Commonwealth Government’s invitation for New Zealand to be Ministerially represented at the meeting of the Australian Agriculture Council, which will open at Canberra on May 12. _ The New Zealand representative will be the Minister of Agriculture, Mr Lee Martin, who will be accompanied by the Director-General of Agriculture, Mr A. H. Cockayne, 1.5.0., and the Minister’s private secretary, Mr W. R. King. The Minister and party will leave for Sydney by the Aorangi from Auckland on May 2. The Council of Agriculture is representative of all the State Ministers of Agriculture and the appropriate Federal Ministers. _ In his invitation the Australian Prime Minister said his Government hoped that advantage would be taken of this meeting to exchange views on many matters of mutual interest associated with the primary industries of Australia and New Zealand. Mr Cockayne will be the New Zealand Government’s representative on the Standing Committee of Agriculture, a committee of technical experts which will meet at Canberra on May 10 and 11. Mr Lee Martin will return to New Zealand on the Awatea, leaving Sydney on May 23.
