The Invercargill police have for, the past few days been making inquiries concerning interference with the mail bag, containing registered letters, from the workmen employed in the Hollyford Valley. In time to catch the outward mail the next evening the mailbag was left in the billiard room adjoining the Post Office, sealed and ready for despatch. The following morning the bag was picked Up by a contractor and brought to Lumsden, where a slit in the bag was discovered by the acting-postmaster and reported to the police, who so far are without a clue.
