MODEL ENGINEERING SOCIETY

The chairman, Mr W. J. White, presided over the monthly meeting of the Otago Model Engineering Society, at which there was an excellent attendance of members. It was decided to celebrate the second of the society by holding a social in May, which marks the end of the second complete year of the club’s existence. The progress made during that time has been most satisfactory and encouraging, the high average of attendance at each meeting indicating that members are continuing their interest and finding the meetings helpful and attractive. A request from the Otago A. and P. Society to arrange an exhibition at the _ Winter Show similar to that organised last year was considered. Finality was not reached owing to the

necessity to make inquiries as to certain equipment being available. A very interesting demonstration of tool grinding was given by Mr E. P. J. Cousins. A similar talk with practical illustrations given by Mr Cousins some time ago proved so helpful and

interesting that the second one was arranged in response to many requests, and the announcement that Mr Cousins would give a further talk on ‘ Tampering Small Tools ’ was received with applause.
