CHISHOLM PARK CLUB SUCCESSFUL OPENING MEETING In the Tainui School last night the initial meeting of the Chisholm Park Golf Club was held, there being present 34 golf enthusiasts. Mr L. A. Wood, who was appointed chairman, in extending a hearty welcome to those present, reported on the ground work that had been covered by different members. Mr J. V. C. Watson read a copy of a: letter sent to the Reserves Committee of the Dunedin City Council. An apology was received from Mr J. McMullan, who was unable to be present owing to a prior engagement. A motion —“ That a golf club be formed, to be known as the Chisholm Park Golf Club’’—was carried unanimously. Mr J. McMullan was appointed the first president of the club. The election of officers resulted as follows: Patrons:—Mr F. Jones, M.P., the Mayors of Dunedin (the Rev. E. f. Cox) and St. Kilda (Mr J. J. Marlow): president, Mr J. McMullan; vice-presidents—Messrs F. R. Brown, F. Meggett, D. Morgan, R. T. ?ridson, D. Syme, and I. McMillan; secretary, Mr J. E. Aubin; club captain, Mr H. Davies; treasurer, Mr G. N. Simpson; committee— Messrs S. A. Pringle, J. Sydney, R, Johnston, J. V. C. Watson, R. Aspinal, E. Fish and H. Riddell. It was decided that the ladies form themselves into a club, to be affiliated to the New Zealand Ladies’ 1 Golf Union. Appreciation of the work of Mr L. A. Wood was expressed, and he was * accorded a hearty vote of thanks. At the conclusion of the meeting 40 members joined the new club.
ST. GLAIR LADIES’ CLUB ANNUAL MEETING The annual general meeting of the St. Clair Ladies’ Golf Club was held last night. The chair was occupied by the president, Lady Sidey, who congratulated the executive and members on the continued sound financial position of the club, and expressed the hope that the new links would be productive of an increase in membership. The following officers were elected for the ensuing year:—President, Lady Sidey; vice-presidents, Mrs A. Smellie and Mrs A. Paterson; captain, Mrs A. McEwan; deputy captain, Mrs F. Sheriff; committee Mesdames Strang, Wight, Forsythe, and, Lawless; auditor, Mr L. Satterthwaite; secretary and treasurer, Mrs G. Burnett.
