NEW BONUS ISSUE
REMARKABLE INVESTMENT £26,000 FOR £IOO Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright SYDNEY, February 26. (Received February 26, at 9.30 a.m.) The ‘ Sydney Morning . Herald’s ’ financial writer says: The announcement of Wool worths’ new bonus issue means that an original holding of £IOO worth of shares will shortly be worth about £26,000, without any effort by the investor. This will ’be the fifth bonus issue of ordinary shares. The investor who bought 100 shares at £1 each . about 11, years ago. and held them, received three shares for one in 1928, one for one in 1931, three for two in 1934, and one for one in 1936. The directors now propose to issue one for five. ThA shares sub-divided last year now have a face value of 5s each. The original hundred thus will have grown after the forthcoming issue to 19,200 shares at 5s each. At yesterday’s market price (27s 3d), the holding would be worth £26,160. This takes no account of the sale of rights for cash.
