She was due at Auckland yesterday, and is expected at Dunedin on March 11. She will sail the following day for Melbourne and Sydney. The Port Line steamer Port Sydney left New York for New Zealand on January 31, in place of the Port Caroline, which is going to Australia. The Port Sydney will bring cargo for discharge at Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Dunedin, and she is due at Auckland about March 7, and at Dunedin about March 17. She will sail finally from Auckland on April 30, and is due at London on May 31. Hertford left Liverpool on February 5 for Auckland, Wellington, Lyttelton, and Port Chalmers. PIAKO FROM NEW YORK.With general merchandise from New York, the Piako is due here to-morrow to complete discharge. She is to sail about Tuesday for Sydney. THE NANIWA MARU. The Y.K.K. Line motor ship Naniwa Maru is now due at Dunedin on Thursday, to continue discharge and loading. She is to sail the following day for Bluff. FRENCH SUBSIDY ESTIMATES. The draft Budget Estimates of the French Government for the year 1938 set out a sum of 887,744,814 fr. as the requirements of the Ministry of Marine, compared with 911,896,353 francs in 1937. The following are among the subsidies to be provided:—Grants of interest under the Credit Maritime Law, 35.000. francs; aid for unsubsidised shipping, 89,900,000 francs; mail services and others of national importance between the Continent and Corsica, 14.000. francs; mail services to the Far East, Australia, New Caledonia, West Coast of Africa, and the Eastern Mediterranean 265,000,000 francs; mail, services and others of national importance by the Compagnie Generale TransAtlantique, 135,000,000 francs ; services between France, Brazil, and the River.
