TRANSTASMAN ISSUES HESITANT DUNLOPS ADVANCE ON DIVIDEND * ANNOUNCEMENT Little life was displayed in the investment market this morning and business was almost stagnant. The easier trend in London has been counterbalanced by a rise in Wall Street, leaving New Zealand markets uncertain and hesitant. Transtasman industrials moved within narrow limits, while Commonwealth mining issues closed fractionally easier on yesterday’s lower rates. Among banking stocks Australasias were marked up 2s on a vendors’ market following the announcement of the final dividend. New South Wales had buyers 5s firmer, but holders held late rates 15s away at £32 10s. Huddart, Parkers (ord.), cum. div., advanced another (Id to nnsupplied buyers £2 4s 6d. Prominent among market movements of Australian, industrials was a decline of 6d in Broken Hill Proprietaries (ord. and con.). Dunlop Rubbers had firm buyers 2d better at £1 3s, following the dividend announcement, but sellers were not attracted. Woolworths (Sydney) revealed a further easing, unanswered buyers receding 2d to £1 6s 6d. Taranaki Oils were steady with, a closer market between 6s 3d and 6s 7d. Mort’s Docks dropped 3d on a holders’ market to 10s 9d, while Consolidated Bricks closed between 7s and Bs. Australian mining stocks were quiet. Although Souths maintained yesterday’s rates. Norths and Zincs tended to slip.
