NATIONAL LEADER

RESOLUTION OF CONFIDENCE, [Pea United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, February 24. A resolution expressing renewed confidence in Mr Adam Hamilton as leader was carried at a gathering at the National Party’s office after Mr Hamilton’s arrival by train from Wellington, when a hearty welcome was extended by the executive and supporters. “ I have no hesitation in repeating what I have said from Stewart Island to the Bay of Islands,” Mr Hamilton said, in an interview. “ There is stronger evidence of enthusiasm in the political support being accorded to the National Party than we have ever before seen on our side of politics.” Mr Hamilton said that 600 branches had been formed with 60,000 members. Nine new candidates of an excellent type had been selected. The party was 12 months further ahead than it was last election in the work of organisation. “We expect an almost complete turnover in the country seats in favour of the National Party provided we have straight-out contests,” he concluded.
