The Union Company’s motor ship Matua, which is supposed to have struck a submerged reef at Nukualofa on her last trip, was placed in the Wellington floating dock to-day. The damage revealed less than was anticipated. There are two dented plates on each side of the ship which do not require replacing, but 50rt of the bilge keel will have to be replaced. She will come off the dock to-morrow and leave for Auckland and the Islands.—Press Association. We read of a man who didn’t learn to write until he was 40, and has just had a book published. Many similarlyhandicapped authors don’t wait half so long as that.
