RIVAL CANDIDATES
LABOUR MOVEMENT IN NEW SOUTH WALES MR LANG TO BE OPPOSED AT ELECTIONS Press Association—By Telegraph —Copyright SYDNEY, February 24. (Received February 24,' at 1.5 p.xn.) A meeting of industrials opposed to Mr Lang elected as their leader Mr R. Heffron, M.L.A. He will lead a number of union candidates against official Australian Labour Party candidates at the State, elections. _ The decision indicates that for the first time in the history of the_ State Labour movement rival State Labour leaders and rival candidates, each claiming to represent the workers, will contest the State elections. The meeting also endorsed Mr J. Hooker as Labour candidate against Mr Lang in the Auburn electorate and a plan to concentrate all their forces upon' bringing about the defeat of Mr Lang. ’ Mr Heffron was born at Thames, New Zealand, and was actively associated with the New Zealand Labour movement about 20 years ago.
