SYDNEY,. February 22. The passenger steamer Hunter, plying between Newcastle and Sydney, had an exciting experience overnight while en route to Sydney, when a fir* was discovered m the fqrehold; There were 75 'passengers aboard, ’all iel whom were totally ignorant of the fir* until the Hunter dropped anchor in Sydney Harbour early this morning, and a fire float, which was summoned by wireless, came alongside.- It soon subdued the outbreak, which originated among stacks of bags, sheep ■: skins, bales of wool, and zinc oxide.
