“ Inquirer.”—At Uio City Council elections in 1935 the number of voles polled by Mr R. \Valls was 11,757, and the number polled by Mr W. W. Batchelor (the last of the 12 successful candidates) was 11,779. The figures given last night were those of the first count immediately after the poll, but the figures given above, the result of the official count, made no difference in the respective positions. “ Fair Play.”—Tho judges were two women and eng man, the later being taught under strict supervision by the late Captain Hall, who was considered a master of the art of dancing. Judgment by public vote was tried at the recent fox-trot championship, but raised a storm of criticism.
