BUS DRIVER'S ORDEAL TORTURED BY REMORSE Tortured by the recollections of an accident in which his vehicle knocked down a little girl who died, Janies Francis M‘ln tyre, 45-year-old bus driver, buried at Leigh, Lancashire, had been delirious for five weeks before he' died. His wife stated at the inquest that in his delirium he struggled and fought in his mind 10 make a superhuman effort to pull up the bus in time to avoid the tiny form which was in its path. MTntyie was himself the father of four children. The accident, which changed his whole outlook on life, and which in the end sent him to his own premature death, happeied more than seven months ago, but though he was exonerated the picture of the most awful moment of his life ivas for ever before him.
From that -ime, it was stated, he “never looked up,” and it was clear that the shoes of the accident had hastened his death. , MTntyre was held in high esteem by his employers, the Leigh Corporation, and when his coffin was borne to the grave the procession was led by about 60 bus drivers and conductors in uniform.
