WAITAKI GIRLS’ HIGH SCHOOL. At a meeting of the Girls’ High School Jubilee Committee the programme for the celebration of the jubilee was confirmed as'follows:— Saturday, May. 7.—Enrolment: civio reception; welcome at school; roil call; photograph; presentation of photographs of ex-principals; banquet. Sunday, May ‘ B.—Morning, free; afternoon, procession to Town Hall for undenominational service; evening, informal “ at homes,” by resident expupils. Monday, May B.—Morning tea at the school; planting of trees; games. Afternoon, entertainment at Opera House by present pupils; golf at Messrs A. J, Grave and R. K. Ireland’s links at Waianakarua; evening, reception at school. Tuesday, May 10.—Morning, free; 2 p.m., sports meeting at motor camp; evening, jubilee ball; banquet for present pupils. LAWN TENNIS ASSOCIATION. Mr S. G. M'Dougall presided at the meeting of the executive of the North Otago Lawn Tennis Association. Amendments to the rules to enable incorporation were approved for submission to a special general meeting. Congratulations were extended to Miss D. Miller on her success in being runner-up for the New Zealand singles championship. . . The draw for the senior competition was made as follows; February 26.—Oam°ru y. Meadowbank, at Oamaru; Awamoa A v. Waimate, at Waimate: Columba v. Awamoa B. at Columba. March 12.—Awamoa A v. Meadowbank, at Awamoa; Oamaru v. Awamoa B, at Oamaru; Waimate v. Columba, at Columba. March 26.—Awamoa A v. Oamaru, at Oamaru: Waimate v. Awamoa B, at Awamoa; Columba v. Meadowbank, at Meadowbank. April 9.—Awamoa A v. Awamoa B, at Awamoa; Meadowbank v. Waimate, at Waimate; Oamaru v. Columba, at Columba. . It was decided to write thanking the Southland Association for its hospitality. A resolution was passed that the association viewed with great regret the decision of the New Zealand Associa-
tioa to cancel the entry for the Davis Cup competition on account of A. O. Steelman not being available. It was felt that the main object of entering should be to give players resident .in New Zealand the opportunity of gaining wider experience. boxing association. The annual report of the Oaplaru Boxing Association records a small increase of members and a ■ sound financial position. There had been difficulty in getting sufficient competitors for an amateur tournament. The team at the New Zealand championships—JN. Jenkin, M. Hunter, and S. Amies—gave a good account of itself, though not winning a title. The New Zealand Boxing Council had commented on the good conduct of the members of the team. The season’s success was attributed to the fact that Stan. Jen--kin, the holder of the New Zealand welter-weight title, took part in five tournaments, one bout being against Don Stirling, also of Oamaru, for the title Congratulations were extended to Jenkin and to Mr J. Thwaites, his sponsor. Good bouts were witnessed at the tournaments at Waitaki and at. Kevin’s, at which association members officiated. The association congratulated Mr G. J. Skeats, who had been chosen as one of the judges at the New Zealand championships, lhanks were extended to trainers, competitors, doctors, supporters, and the Press. MAGISTRATE’S COURT. At the Oamaru Magistrate’s Court yesterday, John Ewen Smith was fined £1 10s and costs (12b) for exceeding the speed limit in Thames street Ivan 6. N. Jackman was fined £2 10s and costs (12s) for making a false statement to Traffic Inspector P. Laughton and £2 and costs for dangerous driving. . For operating a heavy, motor vehicle without a heavy traffic license, Gilbert George Cross was fined 19s and costs (11s), and for a similar offence with another vehicle, 10s and costs (10s).
