DREAM CITY FOR RACE DOGS
Greyhounds flying hither and thither in planes, a racing dog city with streets, parks, and ornamental fountains. Such was the vision conjured up by Brigadier-general Critchley. of the Greyhound Racing Association, as he described to a reporter the wonders of the “ Greyhound City ” at Barrow Hills. Surrey. “ "Work is to begin at once,” he said. “ The city will be 20 years ahead of the times. On the 960-aore estate we shall include:— “ A dog hospital with X-rays and other modern medical equipment. “ All-electric kitchens for cooking the dogs’ food. “ An isolation hospital for dogs suffering from contagious diseases. “ A farm with a herd of pedigree cows to produce milk for dogs in training. “ An airfield for use in the rapid air transport of greyhounds to varioui courses.” The' accommodation at Barrow Hil has been designed to house 1,000 dogs Staff will number 100.
