CAVERSHAM SCHOOL

ANNUAL SPORTS The annual athletic sports meeting of the Caversham Public School was held on the school ground on Saturday afternoon. Among these present were the Postmaster-general and Minister of Defence (Mr F. Jones) and Mrs Jones, and Mr P. Neilson, M.P., and Mrs Neilson. The feature of the afternoon was a display of marching and physical exercises by the pupils of Standards 111 to VI. under the direction of Mr L. Hubbard. The various evolutions were performed with admirable precision, and the use of coloured flags in the arm movements added much to the effectiveness of the display. At the conclusion of the drill display the pupils were addressed by Mr Jones, who congratulated Mr Hubbard and the teachers who had assisted him in preparing the display on the excellent results that had been obtained. Mr Neilson and Mr Sherwood, private secretary to Mr Jones, and an ex-pupil of the school, both considered the display one of the best they had seen. The sports were conducted by the following officials:—Supervisor, Mr W. G. Burns; starters, Messrs W. Hudson and J. List; starting stewards —Messrs J. W. Graham, R. Johnston, L.
