The weather was fine, with a fresh southerly, and the wicket was good when the Plun'ket Shield match, Auckland v.- Wellington, was resumed at 10.30. Whitelaw and’ Postles opened Auckland’s second innings to the bowling of Pritchard and Blundell. Whitelaw was never comfortable, and a beautiful ball from Pritchard shattered his stumps. 14—1—8. A confident appeal for Ibw against Wallace next ball was not sustained. Wallace was dropped in the slips when 13 off Blundell. He appreciated the letoff and opened out. Parsloe relieved Pritchard at the northern end. A rather lucky 4 through the slips put Postles in double figures, and 52 came up for an hour’s batting, but with no addition to the score Wallace snicked Parsloe, Pritchard, in the slips, holding a good 1 catch. 52—2—28. Carson joined Postles, andl they were together at 11.45, when the total was 57 for two wickets. Carson and Postles were scoring slowly,. but were not unduly troubled by the howling. With the total 74, Pritchard took over again from Parsloe., Ironical cheers greeted Postles’s 20, scored in 105 minutes.
