ROBBERY WITH VIOLENCE

THREE YEARS' HARD LABOUR [Pek United Press Association.] WELLINGTON, February 15. A sentence of three hard labour was imposed by the Chief Justice in the Supreme Court on James-Patnck Shivnan, who was found guilty yesterday of robbing William Plymouth Brown (71), retired, of £l9O with violence in a bach in Waterloo Quay on December 19. The judge took into account the fact that the violence was not serious, but said that he had not the least doubt that if greater force had been necessary Shivnan would not have hesitated to use it. He had marked down the man as a victim when he first met him, and was determined to get his money.
