At tie end of the day’s shooting Australia led with 1,128, .Britain was second with 1,126, New Zealand third with 1,121, and South Africa fourth with 1,119. The British team made a fine recovery at the last range, 600yds, after being in last position at the previous 500yds range. It put on a total of 378 out of a possible 400, which brought it within two points of Australia. Corporal L. Hoddle (Britain), who figured so prominently in two stages of the King’s Prize. Registered nine out of ten possible bulls. The New Zealander, Soler, shot excellently for his side. KIWI DEFENCE CLUB The members of the Kiwi Defence Eifle Club fired the third and final competition of No. 6 match on Saturday afternoon. Seven shots arid two optional sighters were fired over 300yds, 600yds, and 600yds. Conditions generally were not conducive to good shooting, a bush fire and an exceptionally •trong head wind making the scoring lower than usual. At 600yds the conditions were the worst experienced this •eason, some promising scores at the first two ranges being nullified at this distance. Eesults:— A GRADE.
