BOWLING

SOUTH DTAGO TOURNAMENT WON BY DUNEDIN RINK 0 Beautiful weather and good greens made the annual rink tournament under the auspices of the South Otago Centre on Saturday a great success. Owing to the record 1 entry of 74 rinks six greens had to be utilised, and it says much for the sportsmanship of the entrants that they accepted the decision of the centre and made trips which necessitated many miles of travelling. The greens were in great order, and complimentary remarks were heard on all sides. Mr T. Sharp (president) and Mr J, G. Henderson (secretary) visited the various greens, a gesture much appreciated. The impires were: J. W. Fenton (Kaitangata), P. A. Watt (Balclutha), R. Oulbert (Stirling), R. Price (Milton), R. C. Moore (Lawrence), W. Keen (Owaka). A word of praise is due the ladies in each centre, who were early on duty and gave early arrivals a hot cup of tea and later dispensed morning and afternoon tea. Stirling green was the central green, and after the three games had been played on the other five all adjourned there, and over 200 bowlers and others were on the Stirling green to witness the postsectional and final play.
