FATAL SMASH
CAR CAPSIZES AFTER SWERVE YOUNG FARM HAND KILLED [Pen United .Pkess Association.] CHRISTCHURCH, February 13. One man died from_ injuries and another was seriously iniurea when a car capsized on the Ashburton-Methven road, about two miles from Methven, yesterday afternoon. The victims were:— DEAD. / RICHARD PARKER, a farm hand, single, aged 21, whose parents live at Portobello, Dunedin; a fractured spine. INJURED. Wilfred Tugh, aged 43. single, a farm hand- concussion and laceration of the head; condition very serious. Both were admitted to the Ashbunton Public Hospital, where Parker died about 3.13 p!m. to-day. The car, which was owned and driven by Parker, capsized on the bitumen road after a sudden swerve. The body of the car was separated from the chassis, which travelled some distance before stopping. Both men were thrown out and picked up unconscious.
