THE THIEF

Every morning the milkman left a bottle of milk on the doorstep of . a bungalow at Cray’s Hill, near Billericay, but for several days there was no milk for breakfast. . A silent thief emptied the milk bottle and slipped away. The police, watching the bungalow, at last saw a hedgehog making for the doorstep. It knocked the milk bottle over, pierced the cardboard cap, and drank the milk.
