OH THE LAWNS [By Diana.] Brilliant sunshine and a very large crowd of patrons gave the lawns a gay and animated appearance for the Cup Meeting. Borders and beds were gay with flowers, but the lawns themselves showed evidence of the very dry summer; one can’t have it all ways. Some very smart frocking was seen. Navy perhaps was first favourite; ensembles m this, with touches of white and hats to tone, were amongst the smartest of frocks. i • The president’s daughters, Mrs E. R. Harty and Mies Pat Hanlon, were present, the former wearing a nut brown ensemble with a coat of wool lace and very smart brown felt beret. Miss Hanlon wore a black patterned frock; her smart hat of black felt, had a veil.
