NATIONAL PARTY
REPORTS ON ORGANISATION OTAGO AND SOUTHLAND DIVISION Presiding over a gathering of representatives of all electorates in the Otago and Southland area and of women’s and junior branches which had been called to meet the executive of the New Zealand National Party on Tuesday, Mr J. G. Jeffery expressed pleasure at the excellent attendance, which, he said, clearly indicated that every unit recognised the need for immediate and thorough organisation. _ Mr Jidfery went on to deal briefly with. the_ effects arising from a Socialist Administration, and it was apparent from the opinions afterwards expressed by other speakers that a determined effort was being made to remove the Labour Government from office. It was made clear also that the women’s branches in all the centres were attracting satisfactory memberships and were already doing good work, while junior branches Ijad been established in Dunedin and Invercargill, and one was in process of formation in Oamani. * Consideration affooling members .up and l finance, also publicity, tours of speakers and arrangements for the selection of candidates were thoroughly discussed, and it was stated that_ it should be possible within the next few weeks to make a definite announcement regarding candidates for most of the doctorates in Otago and Southland.
