CRICKET. The first day’s play in the second .round of the first grade competition took place qn Saturday under ideal cricketing conditions. A feature of the day’s play was the big total compiled by Oariiaru against School, the innings closing for 448 runs, of which total Zimmermann contributed 161, with Kelk 87 and Dick 59. School started badly, losing two wickets for 11 funs. Union established a good lead over Albion in the first innings, the top-scorer in this ■ match being ' Papps with 89. ■ Albion compiled , 133 runs, to which Union replied with 255 for the loss of seven' wickets. —Second Grade.— Oamaru and Albion played a drawn game. Oamaru batted first, making 250 runs. At the call of time Albion had lost six wickets for 155 runs. St. Kevin’s beat School B on the first innings. School B made 110 runs, and St. Kevin’s 1 212. —Third Grade.— St. Kevin’s A' had an outright win against School A. St. Kevin’s made 199 runs and School 33 in the first strike and 17 in the second. St. Kevin’s B secured a win on the first innings against School B. St. Kevin’s made 144 and School 74.
