RIFLE SHOOTING
- 1 ■ DUNEDIN DEFENCE CLUB The Dunedin Defence Rifle Club completed the competition for prizes presented by President W. Bannerman on Saturday afternoon. The attendance was 22, and seven shots (two optional sighters) each wore fired at 500 and 600 yards. Weather was fine and shooting conditions favourable. The highest scores at 500 yards were 34 each, mado by G. H. Smith, C. A. M‘Nish, R. Leslie, jun., and O. G. Miller, in the order given. C. Gamble was top at 600 yards, with 35 (the possible), T. A. Graham being next with 33. O. Gamble headed the day’s aggregate with 68. Following are the highest scores and aggregates: —
KIWI DEFENCE CLUB The Kiwi Defence Rifle Club fired the concluding shoot of No. 2 Match on the Peliohet Bay range on Saturday afternoon. Ideal conditions prevailed, with a very light southerly breeze and brilliant -sunshine. The match was of 10 shots, with two optional sighters at 500 and 600 yards. K. K. Johnston showed the way with a brilliant card of 49 at each range. W, Mills, T. Henshelwood, and H. Butel each scored a limit off the rifle. The match resulted in a win for Johnston, with N. Jones in second place in the A grade, while in the B grade five competitors drew with an aggregate of 184 each and were placed according to the handicap used. The scores with handicaps and placings in the match wero as follow; —A Grade.—
