The Rome correspondent of ‘ The Times ’ says the president of the Fascist Federation of Ship Owners states that the first stage for providing 1,000,000 tons of , mercantile vessels entails the building of 44 ships displacing 250,000 tons. An Italian company will build 9, the Lloyd Triestino 13, the Terrentia 17, and the Adriatic 5. The liners R.B.M.A. and Augustus will be reconstructed. The total cost of the programme will be £16,842,000.
