PLANE STRANDED IN MID-AIR LANDING GEAR JAMMED. Press Association—By Telegraph—Copyright LONDON, November 27. Stranded in mid-air with a jammed landing gear, an Air Force plane laden with bombs and a crew of three circled for four hours to exhaust the petrol and reduce the risk of fire. It then made a miraculous landing at Dorchester, in which only the propeller and the tail wheel were damaged. When the pilot discovered his predicament he signalled to the air port by means of smoke Another plane was sent up with nti order chalked in big letters on the fuselage, reading, “ Drop your bombs, finish the petrol and land at 90.” The bombs were discharged on a, near-by bombing range and the other instructions were carried out to the letter.
