TENNIS STARS

VISIT OF BUDGE AND MAKO [Per United Press Association.] AUCKLAND, November 26. Donald Budge, rated as the world’s tennis champion, and Gene Mako, his partner in the American Davis Cup team, passed through Auckland by the Monterey to-day on their way to Australia, where they will play exhibition matches and participate in championship tournaments. Tho president (Mr Lamb) and the secretary (Mr Porter), of the Auckland Lawn Tennis Association, boarded the vessel when she berthed. Budge, in an interview, said he had plans for the future, but they concerned matters so far ahead that it would be better not to say anything about them. He declared he had no intention of turning professional, at least not for another year, if then. He would represent America next year.
