RACES AT FORBURY PARK
Yesterday’s attendance at Forbury Park was disappointing, the cold wind in the morning keeping many regular raco patrons away. Ladies were in the minority on both /lawns and stands, and very little was seen in the way or smart frocking, most race-goers wearing fur _ coats or heavy wraps, with close-fitting hats. One of the smartest outfits was worn by a Christchurch visitor, and consisted of a crushed strawberry woollen suit with a stitched silk beret to match, and a smart mink cape. The president’s wife, Mrs B. S. Irwin, wore a brown frock and hat with a fur coat, and Miss lona Irwin wore a brown patterned frock under a fur coat, with a smart bowler hat in beige felt. Others noticed on the stands were Mesdames Shaw (Christchurch), .1. Mitchell, W. J. Coughlan, H. Haliiday, Thomson, Jolly, J. Richardson, E. M. Stewart, H. A. Neale, W. Fitchett, Gerald Black, N. Buchanan, F. Forrester, R. C. B. Greenslade, J. Hamer, F. Cross, E. Cross (Christchurch), Melvin, Greenslade, C. S. Donald (Christchurch), J. Jack, A. Dawson, C. E. do Lautour, Allan, Stanley Greenslade, and .the Misses Cornish, D. Cross (Christchurch), Betty Ross, Lois Bank, S. Fitchett, M'Menamin (Invefcargill), L. Samson, Trixie Wood, Powley, Crust, and M. Lane.
