MANCHESTER UNITY

OARHARU JUVENILE LODGE The half-yearly meeting of the Loyal Oamaru Juvenile Lodge was presided over by Bro. W. J. Kidd. There was an excellent attendance of members, and the parents of the boys also turned out in large numbers. The election of officers resulted as follows:—N.G., Bro. I. Nicholson; V.G., Bro. E. Livingstone; guardian, Bro. A. Minty; I. Bro. 0. Port; conductor, Bro. J. Christie; R.S.N.G.. Bro. W. J. Kidd; L.S.N.G., Bro. G. Minty; R.S.V.G., Bro. Scott; L.S.V.G., Bro, Kilpatrick; R.S.W., Bro. M'Gregor; L.S.W., Bro. A. Rae; R.S.G.M., Bro. Tonkin; L.S.G.M., Bro. Sutherland. The installation ceremony was conducted by G.M. Bro. Kidd (president of the Management Committee), who was ably supported by the officers of the adult lodges. The sick and distressed of the society were reported on. A hearty welcome was extended to the visitors. N.G. Bro. G. E. _ Hollands (Loyal Oamaru), Bro. Bowie (Loyal Albion), Bro. Sellar (Loyal Centenary), and V.G. Sister Witham (Loyal Star of the North Lodge) replied to the visitors’ toast. Bro. Kidd presented ■ the annual prizes as follow: —Crosscountry run, over 14 years, Bro. R. Lord; under 14 years, Bro. A. Lord; badminton, Bro. J, Hayes; runner-up,'Bro. H. Turvey; quoits, Bro. I. Nicholson; runner-up, Bro. S. Livingstone. Fastest time in cross-country, over 14 years, Bros. J. Hayes and I. Nicholson (equal). It was intimated that the next meeting would be held in January. Seasonal greetings were then conveyed to the members from the visitors and committee' members. During the evening items were contributed by Bros. W. Minty (mouth organ), A. Kilpatrick (recitations), Ward and Sutherland (duet), T. Cox (piano-accordion), S. Lord (song), Bros. J. Hayes, H. Turvey, and B. Christie (one-act play entitled ' The Minister’s Mistake ’). This is the last meeting of the Juvenile Lodge for 1937.
