WEATHER FORECAST
FINE FOR THE MOST FAIT The following weather forecast was issued at noon by the Meteorological Office,' Wellington, covering the southern districts—Dunedin, Port Chalmers, Tapanui, Winton, Invercargill, Riverton, Orepuki, Bluff, Halfmoon Bay:— ■Pressure is still rather low to the east of the Dominion, but is rising everywhere with the approach of an anti-cyclone across the Tasman Sea. Forecast: Moderate to strong but decreasing southerly winds; , some scattered showers probable, but weather for most part fair to fine. Cold night, with some inland frosts, but milder to-mor-row. Seas rather rough to rough, but decreasing. WIND AND RAIN. A strong south-westerly wind prevailed yesterday afternoon, and similar conditions were experienced this morning, with occasional light and scattered rain showers, the sky being heavily overcast, with heavier rain likely later in the day. Barometric pressure was rising at 29.8 Sin at midday, when the wind had not abated. The respective maximum and minimum thermometer registrations at the Gardens at 9 o’clock to-day were sJdeg and 53deg, as compared with the readings of 58deg and 47.3 deg over a period of 24, hours yesterday.
