ST. CLAIR SCHOOL
The monthly meeting of the St. Clair School Committee was _ attended by Messrs Love (in the chair) N. D. Anderson, Bond, Grindley, Robson, and Warwick. The head master reported that the roll number was 538. A number of children were absent from the infant department through colds. The recently-formed school choir _ under Mr F. M. -Peake would give its first concert before the vacation. _ Following receipt of a communication from the Head Masters’ Association regarding the system of prize-giving, the subject was discussed; and eventually it was decided to follow the usual custom and award prizes at the conelusion of the school year. The head master will hold a parents’ day at the school early in December. The committee extended its congratulations to the boys and girls on again winning the Primary Schools’ Sports Association Athletic Shield, thus upholding the past record of the school. During the past three years a picnic has been hold each year to celebrate the winning of the Sports Shield but the attendance each year has been progressively less. Last year about half the children on the school roll attended, and the proportion of parents was even less. Under the circumstances the committee decided to abandon it.
